FACEMASKS IN CHURCH

Please note that as from 8th August the latest Government changes require you to wear a facemask in Places of Worship, unless you are medically exempt.

The Baptist Union has queried whether the use of scarves, face coverings or visors is acceptable, and the Government's response has been "No" - only Face Masks are permissable.

Please note that David, our Minister, is exempt because of health issues, and will not be wearing a face mask in church. If you come to church for Prayer, he will stay more than 2 metres away from you at all times.

The good news is that one of our members, Ann Holdsworth, has been making masks in support of local charities.  Ann says :-

"Following the Government's directive that face coverings should be worn, I have been making face masks and have raised £200 which is being sent to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.  I have been charging £5 for the masks which are made of 3 layers of cotton fabric, including a pocket into which a tissue or kitchen paper can be inserted as an additional filter.  The masks have an enclosed wire to give a good fit on the nose.  The money raised from these masks will go to Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue at Grassington."

If you would like to order one (or more) please let us know and we will pass your order onto Ann.

LOCKDOWN UPDATE

The new restrictions apply to all in Bradford District, including us here in Ilkley.  The wording of last night's restrictions were very misleading, and it has since been clarified that some church activity can continue.

We shall be consulting with the Diaconate on our way forward, but the church will remain closed until Monday in order for us to assess the situation. Please check back for updates.

FRIDAY'S 'VIRTUAL KESWICK" MEETING CANCELLED

In light of tonight's Covid restrictions on meetings that apply to all Bradford District, the last of our evening "Virtual Keswick Convention" meetings, scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) evening, has had to be cancelled.

You can still tune in online, in your own home, by visiting the Keswick Convention YouTube channel.

KESWICK CONVENTION

The church will be open (with social distancing) this week from Monday to Friday as we screen the "virtually" Keswick Convention. Doors open at 7-45pm, and the Convention starts each night at 8pm. The overall theme of the convention this year is "Hope".  Join us for a time of sung worship and engaging teaching. There will also be book recommendations and a mission interview.

Join us on

Monday - Mike Cain on the theme of Why hope? He will be looking at 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17.

Tuesday - Andy Prime will preach about how we can hope, looking at 1 Peter.

Wednesday - Amy Orr-Ewing will be speaking on the theme of how we can hope, by looking at Romans 15.

Thursday - Graham Daniels will be speaking about the theme of Our hope: the appearing of Jesus Christ, focusing on Titus 2.

Friday- Jeremy McQuoid will be preaching on the theme of Our hope: The glory of God, focusing on Romans 5.

This screening is "Cafe Style". Please bring along any drinks and snacks you wish, as the kitchen will still be "off-limits".

As we are meeting every evening this week, the daily opening of church for prayer will only be on Wed/Thurs/Fri this week.

Come along and enjoy the convention!
