INCREASE IN BAPTISSIMO PUBLICATION

Brenda has increased the frequency of Baptissimo to monthly to help us through self-isolation.  The April edition was posted out 10 days ago, but we are aware that some of you didn't get it in time for Easter.  Unfortunately, some of the post has been delayed/lost.  This is a statement that Royal Mail has issued on Thursday, 16th April, 2020 in response to non-delivery complaints:

"Deliveries and collections should take place throughout the UK this week. However, despite our best endeavours, it’s likely some areas of the country will experience some level of disruption due to Coronavirus-related absences at local mail centres or delivery offices. We’re working hard to collect, process and deliver as much mail and parcels as possible in difficult circumstances."

If you have still not received your Baptissimo, please email us and we will email you an electronic copy.

BERYL POLLARD

We are sorry to have to report that one of our long-standing members, Beryl Pollard, passed away, peacefully, at home yesterday.  Beryl had been a church member for over 60 years, and our thoughts go out to her daughters, Joanne and Hilary.

Beryl wrote an article about herself in our Baptissimo church magazine in 2008, and you can read the article by clicking on the link above.

As you will appreciate, funeral arrangements are extremely difficult at this time, but Beryl's life will be celebrated at church at some stage in the future.

MAUNDY THURSDAY COMMUNION SERVICE

Our short communion service for Maundy Thursday has been uploaded onto YouTube.  You can view it anytime, but ideally at 7pm on Thursday evening.

It is a communion service, so please have your bread and wine ready at home, so you can share with church members, and guests, in the Lord's Supper.  Join us at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqiU2xSh6Ks

PALM SUNDAY SERVICE NOW ACTIVE

YouTube is now operating normally, and our Palm Sunday Worship Service is online on the Ilkley Baptist Church YouTube channel.  You can view the service by clicking this link  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dtkT6aVjPE&t=151s

During the transmission I mentioned two other transmissions that may be of interest.  If you would like to visit the International Evangelical Church of the Algarve please click on https://kerkdienstgemist.nl/…/1882-International-Eva…/events

Phil Jump, Regional Minister for the NorthWestern Baptist Association has also compiled an online remembrance for loved ones who have passed away, and for whom the normal funeral service was impossible.  You can view this at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyHQSxH4xs4&t=25s

DELAY TO OUR PALM SUNDAY SERVICE TRANSMISSION

Well, David has worked a nightshift on Saturday evening, as YouTube has been unbelievably slow, and after 10 hours I have now been told to "try later today!"

Unfortunately, these things happen when they have no staff in the office to fix network problems due to coronavirus.

We will attempt to upload the service this morning, but it may well be this afternoon or evening before you can see it.  Apologies again, but this is outside of our control.

SUNDAY 5th APRIL - STREAMED SERVICE

We shall have our second streamed church service on Sunday, 5th April. Again, because many of our congregation have carers coming in at different times of the day, we have decided to pre-record the service and place it on Youtube on our dedicated Ilkley Baptist Church YouTube page.  This means that you can tune-in to the service at whatever time suits you best.

Our first streamed service went well, so we have added an extra evening service on Maundy Thursday to our Sunday Services, which means we can worship three times from our homes in Holy Week.  The text that we advertised last week has been moved to the Maundy Thursday Service, so on Palm Sunday we will be reading from Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 21 and the first eleven verses.

We will have our usual combination of prayer, hymns and a sermon as part of our worship.  The worship music has been kindly donated, royalty free, by ISingWorship.  This means that the style of music may be slightly more "modern" than we usually have at morning worship!

The sermon will again be published on this site on Sunday for those unable to view the service.  We will also post a link on this site on Sunday morning to take people directly to the worship service.  We would encourage you to view at 10-45am, if you can, as if it was an actual service in our church.
